Oleg Scheka, deputy vice-president on science and innovations, met with a delegation from the Taiwan National Science Council on May 10 in Far Eastern Federal University.
The Taiwan National Science Council is the biggest scientific organization in the country, whose functions are comparable to the aims of the Russian Ministry of Science. The delegation arrived specially for a meeting of managers and representatives of the Pacific Rim countries’ science foundations. The Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR) and Far Eastern Federal University were the organizers of the event.
At the meeting, Oleg Scheka gave a detailed presentation about the university and answered all the questions that interested the guests. The main topic of the discussion was science and innovation cooperation between FEFU, National Taiwan University and scientific research institutions. Due to a lack of natural resources, Taiwan has an extremely developed high-technology economy, great experience in commercialization of scientific researches and a history of innovation adoption.
As a result of the meeting, the parties made an agreement about the short-term steps in cooperation. A visit of Taiwanese scientists – specialists in the sphere of technology transfer – is planned to be one of these steps.
