3 сентября 2012 - Новости ДВФУ

Team «Primorye Coast» of the Far Eastern Federal University will take part in the final of International competitions in underwater robotics MATE ROV Competition 2012. The team will compete with more than twenty teams from around the world. Each team must design and build their own underwater vehicle.

The team traditionally consists of students from different specialty, from computer security to medical physics, and interior design. The team include students of the School of Natural Sciences and Engineering Schools: Andrei Sakharov, Angelina Borovskaia, Shiriaev Anton, Anton Tolstonogov, Tregubenko Dmitry, Roman Babaev, YaroslavVolkov, Fursov Maxim and Vladislav Bolotov.

In addition, the mentors from FEFU and FEB RAS made a big contribution to team building and training of students: Mun S.A., Mikhailov D.N., Shcherbatyuk A.F., Sergeenko N.S., Kostenko V.V., Goy V. A., Tufanov I.E. and Pushkarev I.S.

The organizers of this event are the MATE Center (Marine Advanced Technology Education), the MATE holds competitions in underwater robotics since 2002.

All these long 10 years, MATE contributed to the development of studentsskills in physics, mathematics, engineering and related sciences, helping them to gain invaluable experience in the field of solutions of the real worldmarine technology problems. We thank members of the MATE for the huge contribution to the development of underwater robotics students: Jill Zande, Deidre Sullivan, Erica Moulton, Matt Gardner, Candiya Mann, Scott Fraser, Jeremy Hertzberg.

Team FEFU continuously take part in them, since 2008, from 2009 is one of five winners, and in 2010 won the first place. This year's competition will be held in Orlando, Florida, USA from 21 to 23 June.

Year by year, the competition theme changes, just change the problems that participants should be solved with the help of underwater robots. This year's theme is World War II. As a result of military operations at sea sank many ships, which remained fuel in the tanks , threatening to harm an inhabitants of the marine fauna. Teams will need to develop special feature and methods for safe removal of the fuel without causing harm to marine life.
