Scientists from FEFU and Nihon University (Japan) implement a joint Kelp project that aims to use seaweeds in the production of the new food products.

Russian participants of the project include scientists from the FEFU School of Biomedicine and School of Natural Sciences together with fellow colleagues from the Institute of Marine Biology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. So far, the innovative food products made out kelp, aquatic organisms, Russian wild-growing herbs and dietary supplements of local origins have gone through the tasting stage.

Among the tasted items were aquatic organism salads with laminaria, sausage products with added jellyfish, bakery goods, wieners, pâtés, sauces and deserts with added kelp, cucumaria, and laminaria.
