FEFU Global Spring School on International Relations, Peace, and UN Sustainable Development Goals

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THE PARTICIPATION IN

THE FEFU GLOBAL SPRING SCHOOL ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, PEACE, AND UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

March 22-26, 2021

Description of the event

FEFU Global Spring School on International Relations, Peace, and UN Sustainable Development Goals is a five-day event held for students wishing to study International Relations on the university level. The Spring School will be held on March 22-26, 2021 in three time zones to encourage greater participation of students from all parts of the world. The Spring School is an online free-of-charge event where participants will be able to meet with a global community of junior and senior high school students from many countries of the world. The event includes both theoretical classes and practical assignments and is organized in the form of a competitive academic event with breaking of the participants into three major groups that correspond to different sets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (People, Planet, and Prosperity).

Eligibility

Junior and senior high-school students from all parts of the world are eligible to apply. Because high school systems vary across the world, in some countries junior students might be in their 10th year while in others they might be in their 11th year. Similarly, in some countries, senior students are in their 11th year while in others they are in the 12th year of their high schools. What makes senior students similar though is the fact they are graduating students who are now completing their final year in high school. High-school students would need to submit their statements of intent expressing why they would want to study International Relations in the future and to explain why in their opinion a set of UN Sustainable Goals that they have selected would help humankind in the future.

Program

Every day, the students will have about 4 hours of classes (four one-hour-long sessions). The classes start at 2 pm in each of the time zones specified below to make sure high-school students can come back home from their regular high school classes in the morning. The overall time commitment for Spring school is about 20 hours (5 days by 4 hours). Students from any country of the world will be able to choose from the three time zones selected for their comfort:

ZONE 1: Asia and Oceania (Australia Eastern Time, GMT + 10 hours);

ZONE 2: Europe and Africa (Eastern African Time, GMT + 3 hours);

ZONE 3: North and South America (Eastern Standard Time, GMT - 5 hours).

Outcomes

FEFU Spring School would be a wonderful opportunity for high school students from all walks of life and parts of the world to test their desire and willingness to study and later pursue their careers in International Relations, and to promote international peace and understanding. If you have not chosen yet, what you would want to study in the future – international relations or biology, chemistry, or computer science – this is a perfect opportunity for you to test the ground of your future! Participation in this Spring School can be a life-changing experience for all of its participants! Don’t miss this opportunity of a lifetime!
