The on-site investigation of the lightning
of the Vladivostok coastal pedestrian precincts

Abstract: The article deals with the coastal pedestrian precincts both newly created for the APEC Russia 2012 summit and those that existed earlier, which are located on the mainland and the island parts of Vladivostok. It is concerned with the level of their illumination and the ways of their improvement. The objects of the investigation were four city quays: those of the Olympian Sport Complex, the Sports Harbour, the Tsesarevich Embankment, and the Embankment of the Far Eastern Federal University Park in the Russky Island. The article presents the survey and appreciation of the illumination solutions and artistic designs that were to create an effective light space of the Vladivostok coastal zones. Basing on the on-site investigations, conclusions have been drawn regarding the comfort, safety, and artistic expression of the light space of the named embankments as well as weather the illuminometer indications are in agreement with the accepted lightning standards.
Key words: embankment, light environment, illuminance (E), light planning structure.
