Dynamics of heat exchange in the set of fuel elements of the nuclear reactor BOR-60

Abstract: The article presents the results of the study of heat exchange in the TVELs of the fuel cassette of the nuclear reactor BOR-60. They are an annular fuel element with the shell in the form of three concentric rings, where a heat supply is provided in the inner shell of the inner ring. In both cases, the thermal stress between the shells is taken into consideration. The fuel assemblies are carried out in the form of a bundle of cylindrical fuel elements located at the apexes of a regular triangle. The uneven distribution of fuel rods in the core of the nuclear reactor evolves the irregularity of temperature fields. A method has been developed to calculate the heat exchange process taking into account the effects of non-stationary as well as the influence of the thermal resistance between the shells and the external irregularity of the temperature field. The results of the calculation are used to estimate the permissible temperature level in containment materials.

Key words: fuel element, thermal conductivity, numerical calculation, thermal resistance.
