Improving the accuracy of velocity determination using vessel mooring satellite systems

Abstract: The paper demonstrates the advantage of the vessel-mounted GPS receiver over the geodetic one used in mooring satellite systems. A method is proposed to improve the accuracy of the GPS receivers in determining near-zero velocities of the vessels approaching the quay. Obtained are regression models of the dependence of COG parameters on the vessel's absolute velocity. Recommendations are given for further improvement of the satellite receivers of vessels.

Key words: Global Positioning System receiver, regression analysis, standard deviation, Course Over Ground, difference of Course Over Ground, Speed Over Ground, Real Time Kinematic.
