A variant of equipping the helicopter Mi-34 with ballonet system

Abstract: The sporting and aerobatic helicopter Mi-34 is advertised as a popular flying machine made to serve other functions as well: one cannot rule out its capability of landing on water. The demand for the development of the helicopters of the kind was necessitated by the extension of offshore projects requiring the aircraft equipped with life rafts and salvage appliances. The article contains the information on an investigation carried out to add to the common structure of the helicopter Mi-34 in order to make it possible its water landing and being left by the crew in case of emergency landing by way of providing it with ballonets made from a waterproof fabric and fixed on the skid-equipped landing gear. The weight of the system for the Mi-43 cannot exceed 25 kg, whereas two tubes secure its flotation and reduce the risk of gas escape. There are no ballonets made for such machines in this country and as to the life rats made in Russia, they are two or three times heavier that those made abroad. Our company works out also a life raft for the crew and passengers.
