The method of designing the concrete gravity base substructure in ice conditions by ANSYS

Abstract: The paper is concerned with designing offshore oil structures in the severe ice conditions of Arctic. It presents the authors’ method to determine the overall dimensions of the oil production structure. Calculation has been carried out of the ice load on single support structures with vertical and sloping faces. The SolidWorks programme with the help of the programme parameterisation has enabled to make models of structures with a diameter of 10-100 m for the depth of 10-100 m. Through the ANSYS programme, the models were designed for maximum internal stress and displacement caused by ice. The developed method enables one to determine the volume of ice loads, adjust the parameters of the structure, calculate the internal stresses and maximum displacements for the structures of various diameters, which, as a result, enables one to determine the optimality and feasibility of the construction.
