New high quality binder for asphalt road surfaces effectively using rubber from waste tires

The article deals with the defects in existing binders for road asphalt pavement. In the authors’ opinion, the defects are caused by the fact that the existing binders based on bitumen make impossible the destruction and devulcanisation of tires. It is demonstrated that a special activation of rubber bitumen mixtures by ultrasound enables one to produce new binders having high physico-mechanical properties. This is a way to obtain binders adapted to any climatic conditions of Russia. The authors carried out their investigations on laboratory equipment and pilot plants having special ultrasonic devices of different capacities. Two variants of experimental industrial plants (SDAS) have been designed to produce the new binder. At present, at the enterprise Emulbit, they are considering the construction of the SDAS to produce the pilot batches of the new binder with simultaneous laying them experimentally on certain road sections.
