The World Youth Festival (WYF) program, dedicated to the development of relationships between participants from different countries, was discussed by experts at the panel discussion “The World Youth Festival as the foundation for effective connections between the countries of the Asia-Pacific region” as a part of the VIII Eastern Economic Forum. The discussion was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova, Vice President for Youth Policy of the Far Eastern Federal University Alexander Kaydanovich, General Director of the Russian Society “Knowledge” Maxim Dreval.

The emphasis on relationships with partners from the countries of the Asia-Pacific region is one of the main trends in Russian foreign policy in recent years. The World Youth Festival is no exception. Guests from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the BRICS countries are especially welcome at the WFM - a large-scale cultural program has been prepared for them by the Russian Society "Knowledge".

The schedule includes an educational film lecture with masterpieces of world and Russian cinema, lectures from invited experts, an exhibition of the best works of participants in a domestic photo contest, which will introduce foreign guests to the national heritage, untouched nature, people and their achievements.

Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova is confident that the World Youth Festival will unite young people from all over the world.

“This will be a grand event that will remain in the hearts of many thousands of young participants. The event will bring together students - our partners, and many international schoolchildren, our future applicants, who will love Russia the way we love it,” says Olga Petrova. “The World Youth Festival is the foundation of effective connections, because there is no longer-term cooperation than that which arises in informal activities and formats,” Olga Petrova is sure.

According to FEFU Vice President for Youth Policy Alexander Kaidanovich, foreign students of the Far Eastern Federal University will not stand aside and will also go to the event. Already now more than 50 members of the student organization “Association of Russian and Foreign Students” (ARIS) have submitted applications for the World Youth Festival.

“Far Eastern Federal University is an excellent example of how educational institutions can promote cultural exchange and the development of international relations. At our university, international students, along with Russian ones, participate in scholarship competitions, become winners of grant programs, and develop their skills in scientific activities. But the main direction in working with international students at FEFU is intercultural. And participation in international events, such as the World Youth Festival, is an important step in the development of international cooperation and cultural exchange,” noted Alexander Kaydanovich.

Let us remind you that at FEFU, as part of the EEF-2023, the only Volunteer Training Center in the Far East for the World Youth Festival-2024 was opened on the basis of the university. About 100 volunteers will be trained at the university to participate in the largest youth event of the year. You can submit an application at the Center at FEFU, which is located on the 8th floor of the central building “A” until December 1.
