The final of the XIV Primorsky Region calligraphy competition with brush and pen among schoolchildren and students was held at Confucius Institute of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). Over 2,000 people took part in the qualifying and final rounds.

According to the Confucius Institute of FEFU, 43 finalists were selected from 28 educational institutions of Primorsky Region who demonstrated the best technique for using a brush. They were asked to write the work in one of two styles: Kaishu and Xiao Zhuan.

“We are pleased that interest in the competition is growing every year. When summing up the results, the jury noted that the participants of the final round have a high level of mastery of calligraphy skills not only in modern but also in ancient style. The winners proved themselves to be true masters”, said Natalya Stupnitskaya, Director of FEFU Confucius Institute.

Among the FEFU students, the prizes for the brush calligraphy competition were won by representatives of the Institute of Oriental Studies - School of Regional and International Studies:

1-st place - Maxim Bokhan, Alina Butyaeva;

3-rd place - Kristina Islamova.

Representatives of 28 educational institutions of Primorsky Region (Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Nakhodka, Dalnerechensk) participated in the qualifying round of the calligraphy contest with a pen. 312 contestants reached the final.

Students of the Institute of Oriental Studies - School of Regional and International Studies also became the best in the technique of calligraphy with a pen:

1-st place - Kristina Islamova,

2-nd place - Mikhail Shapovalov,

3-rd place - Alexandra Mikhaylyuk, Maria Afanasyeva, Anastasia Fakanova.

The regional calligraphy competition is annually held at FEFU with the support of the Headquarters of the Confucius Institutes and the State Chancellery for Spreading the Chinese Language Abroad (Hanban).

FEFU Confucius Institute pays much attention to methodological work aimed at improving the qualifications and professional skills of teachers and Chinese teachers of higher and secondary educational institutions of the Far East. Seminars, round tables, and masterclasses are held, programs are being implemented on the basis of higher educational institutions of China.
