Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) for the first time ranked 531–540 in the QS World University Rankings (QS) 2020. The largest university in Eastern Russia, participating in the 5-100 project, showed the best result in the international ranking in its history.

QS World University Rankings is calculated by the method of the British company Quacquarelli Symonds and is one of the most respected in the world. Universities are evaluated annually by a combination of indicators: the proportion of foreign students and employees, the ratio of the number of students and academic staff, the citation index of scientific publications, reputation in the academic community and among employers.

According to the Office of FEFU Vice President for Development, the positive dynamics in the updated rating was noted on several points at once, which was largely due to the increase in international activity and an increase in the citation rate of scientific publications.

The reporting period also became indicative of the intensification of cooperation with foreign partners. FEFU opened its own representative offices at Tokai University (Japan, Tokyo), Vietnam National Universities (Vietnam, Hanoi) and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (China, Beijing).

Today, 246 scientific and educational organizations around the world are partners of Far Eastern Federal University, with another 374 cooperation agreements signed. The active international position of the university increases the interest of students from foreign countries. More than 3,500 foreigners from 74 countries are currently studying at FEFU.

Far Eastern Federal University is among the leading Russian universities participating in Project 5-100, where it successfully implements a comprehensive plan to improve international competitiveness. A confirmation of the dynamic development of FEFU is the strengthening of its position in international ratings. Recall that in 2019 in the QS World University Rankings the university rose by 110 points and is in the group of leading universities from 541 to 550 positions.
