Vice-President for International Relations of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), Sherpa of Russia in W20 ("Women's Twenty") Victoria Panova took part in the Third Eurasian Women's Forum titled "Women: Global Mission in a New Reality". Victoria Panova moderated the open session “Women's Twenty (W20). Participation of Women in Restoring Stability”. 

“The holding of the Eurasian Women's Forum in our harsh time of pandemic underlines the positive dynamics of the development of the women's movement, as well as more pressing issues of involving women in the economy and business. The Forum is an effective platform for promoting practical solutions to achieve gender equality. We do appreciate the support of our women leaders - Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Chairperson of Galina Karelova, Sherpa of the Russian Federation in the G20 Svetlana Lukash, and based on the results of this session, we will be able to present them with new interesting ideas for strengthening national and international politics to strengthen the role of women in all spheres of society”, said Victoria Panova.

The experts discussed the role of women in building a stable and secure future, the possibilities of this format for promoting the interests of the Russian Federation, as well as Russia's contribution to the implementation of the policy of equal opportunities, the results of the Italian Chairmanship in W20 in 2021 and the priorities of the Indonesian Chairmanship in 2022. 

“The Forum gathered more than 2.5 thousand participants from 111 countries in St. Petersburg. In total, today we have carefully calculated that for all days on the sidelines of the forum more than 90 different events took place, and about 3.5 million people connected at different stages of our work to our events via the Internet. I believe that we have managed to ensure the high quality of each of these events”, said Valentina Matvienko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairperson of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Also, she expressed her gratitude to everyone for their work.

Valentina Matvienko also noted that the documents developed as a result of the work of the forum will be sent to international organizations and associations. Valentina Matvienko stated that it is necessary to exchange experience in the fight against violence against children and women. This will help to counter any form of discrimination.

For three days, plenary sessions, strategic and thematic discussions, discussion platforms dedicated to the mission of women in shaping a new agenda of peace and trust, a healthy society, preserving the planet, social transformations, digitalization, and economic development were held. The forum was attended by women parliamentarians, representatives of executive authorities, international organizations, global corporations, business circles, the scientific community, public organizations, and charitable projects, authoritative figures of the international women's movement.

Gender equality is one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030, as well as an important component of the National Action Strategy for Women for 2017-2022, in the implementation of which Far Eastern Federal University actively participates and promotes in large-scale national and international events.
