International Winter School opened at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) on January 14. Within 1 week 24 high school students from Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia will attend lectures, communicate with students, learn the Russian language and culture, as well as opportunities offered by FEFU. The school is sponsored by Longmei Education Corporation in China.

Acquaintance with the university began with a tour, during which schoolchildren personally got familiar with FEFU infrastructure: from a scientific library to academic buildings with their classrooms. A busy program awaits the participants of the winter school, every day is scheduled literally by the hour: lectures from employees and professors, master classes on decorating traditional Russian nesting dolls and making pancakes, a concert and entertainment program from the folk group, games, and excursions.

One of the organizations to visit will be the FEFU Project Activities Center - a place where every student, regardless of major, can try his hand at technological creativity. In order to maintain a friendly atmosphere, members of the FEFU Association of Russian and Foreign Students have prepared games aimed at learning Russian words and comfortable communication.

“I plan to enter FEFU for studying International Relations. I really liked the university and I became even more interested in the Russian language. After graduation, I want to stay in Vladivostok and work here. This is my first visit to Russia and I was most impressed with the Russian language, beautiful landscapes, openness and good looks of people”, said Liu Guolia, a participant of the winter school.

According to the FEFU Office of the Vice President for International Relations, the Longmei Education Corporation is one of the strategic partners of the university in terms of development and international cooperation. Longmei chooses FEFU for conducting short-term educational programs for its students. Last year, winter and summer schools were organized. An agreement was also signed on a joint Center for Continuing Education of the Russian-Chinese international school at FEFU.

Far Eastern Federal University, as one of the leading centers of China Studies, is actively involved in strengthening cooperation between Russia and China in various areas. About 1,500 students from China study at FEFU in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as supplementary academic programs. Universities of the two countries implement exchange programs, organize language internships and other joint events. The university develops cooperation with 50 state and private educational institutions, scientific institutes, government organizations and foundations of the country.

Far Eastern Federal University is actively working towards internationalization and the expansion of international cooperation. Holding summer and winter schools together with foreign partners is an integral part of the integration of FEFU into the global educational agenda and is aimed at improving the competitiveness of the university in the framework of the 5-100 Project. According to the FEFU development program for 2020 - 2029, one of the key tasks of the university is its promotion as an international educational center for attracting talents from Russia and Asia-Pacific countries.
