Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) has completed the application campaign for the BRICS semester educational program. In total, 100 foreign students will take part in the internship studying at five FEFU educational programs. Applications were submitted by 184 students from 40 universities of BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

Far Eastern Federal University initiated an educational program for students of BRICS countries in connection with the Russian Federation’s Presidency in BRICS in 2020. According to FEFU Office of the Vice-President for International Relations, the internship is designed to provide an environment where students from 5 countries can study together in the framework of educational programs that are popular and relevant for BRICS. This promotes academic and cultural exchange aimed at intensifying social and humanitarian cooperation, strengthening dialogue and mutual understanding between BRICS countries.

“BRICS Educational Internship Program at FEFU is aimed at strengthening cooperation in areas related to key priorities for the development of the association, as well as expanding contacts in the BRICS research community among young professionals. The semester program is focused on inter-civilizational dialogue and mutual understanding between BRICS member states”, said Victoria Panova, FEFU Vice-President for International Relations.

The program offers students from BRICS countries to study at FEFU graduate/undergraduate programs during the spring semester (mid-February - June 2020). In addition to academic activities in the areas of International Relations, General Medicine, Cybersecurity, International Business and Project Management, Water Biological Research, students of this program are offered options for extra-curricular activities in which they can participate as an organizer and as a student.

FEFU Center of Russian Language and Culture is preparing a set of events for BRICS participants such as Maslenitsa, Mother Tongue Day, Literature event, the inter-university festival of foreign students “I am studying in Russia”, the global literacy campaign “Total Dictation” (TRUD test), Slavic writing and culture festivals.

The largest number of applications came for International Relations and International Business and Project Management. The leader in the number of applications for project participation was Amity University (India), which opened its Representative Office at FEFU during the Eastern Economic Forum 2019.

25-50 participants of the FEFU Academic Excellence and Honors Education (AEHE) program will join foreign students. The results of the selection, based on the correspondence of the level of the educational program, knowledge of the English language and motivation letter, will be known after February 1, 2020.

Far Eastern Federal University, being the flagship of Russian education in the Asia-Pacific region, is actively developing international cooperation and attracting more foreign applicants every year, thereby strengthening its status as an international university. More than 3,500 foreign students from 74 countries study at FEFU in various academic programs.
