The First International Student Summer Sports Games "Primorye Youth" came to an end on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. According to the results of the four-day competition, Primorye region took the lead in the number of medals. Athletes from five universities brought 60 medals to the region, most of these, 45, were won by FEFU teams.

The FEFU sportsmen took the second place in the overall rating. In terms of the number of awards, FEFU was the undisputed leader. The university teams brought home 11 gold, 20 silver and 14 bronze medals.

On the fourth and final day of the competition, FEFU teams won a total of 17 medals. FEFU athletes won 4 bronze medals in table tennis – in singles, doubles and mixed doubles for both boys and girls. The youth football team brought FEFU a gold medal and the volleyball team brought a bronze medal. One first and three second places were taken by FEFU tennis players. The women's team won gold in the innovative sport of phygital basketball.

Athletes in boxing achieved excellent results. Artem Belousov and Ulyana Luferova won gold medals, outdoing competitors from China and Uzbekistan.

"Despite the fact that the preparation for the competition took place during exam week and it was sometimes difficult to switch from studying to sport, I took part in various competitions, and we still managed to prepare well. I would like to thank the coaches because they helped a lot. The opponents were strong: the champion of Uzbekistan, the medallist of the Chinese championship took part, and I am glad that I was able to show myself worthy and won. There was a very good support at the Games, which you rarely find. Everyone is here for each other and that is very helpful," said Ulyana Luferova, a first-year student in the Physical Education major at FEFU.

Moreover, FEFU boxers brought five more silver awards to the university.

On the third day of the competition, FEFU teams won 16 medals in basketball, swimming, athletics and indoor rowing. On the second day, FEFU teams took awards in indoor rowing and swimming.

The FEFU rowing team had the best results throughout the Games: students won 4 out of 4 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal. The awards went to Svetlana Tarabanchuk, Arina Prikhodko, Dmitry Nedovesov and Leonid Vetokhin.

It should be noted that over 500 athletes representing the national teams of Russia, Belarus, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, India and China competed for medals in 12 sports at the Games.

Student Games were held as part of a series of events to celebrate Vladivostok's status as the Youth Capital of Russia.

We would like to point out that the Far Eastern Federal University is the official venue of the First International Student Summer Sports Games "Primorye Youth". The FEFU campus is the largest sports cluster in the region and has great potential for the development of mass and professional sports. Equipped with special sports infrastructure, the campus is ready at any time of the year not only to host visiting athletes from all over the world, but also to train its own through the academic programmes of the Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.

The Institute improves the performance of students and helps to train a new generation of professional athletes and coaches, thus making a significant contribution to the implementation of one of the priority tasks of the state – the formation of a healthy lifestyle among the population of the Far East.

The Institute's academic programmes – Physical Culture and Physical Culture for People with Disabilities – are already open for applications this year.
