On 24-25 June, the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) hosted the IV Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum. This year's main theme was "Educational space of the future: new competences, innovations, technologies". During the plenary session, Forum participants set the tone for the upcoming debates and discussed the most promising areas of human resource development for both countries – creative industries and information technologies.

The IV Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum brought together more than 100 heads of leading universities, representatives of research centres, ministries and companies from Russia and Uzbekistan. The event opened with a plenary session in which speakers discussed the prospects for transforming education in the two countries. The discussion was moderated by Boris Korobets, President of the Far Eastern Federal University.

“Uzbekistan is our strategic partner, and our relations are developing dynamically, allowing us to expand and strengthen joint areas of training specialists for the scientific and innovative sphere of our countries – we are ready to share best practices in a range of areas. It is certain that this forum will become another important milestone in the history of Russian-Uzbek cooperation in training highly qualified employees for the new economy. I would like to extend my best regards to all participants and express my hope that the work will be fruitful, the discussions interesting and that new ideas will be generated. Let our joint efforts be for the benefit of our countries and for the education of a new skilled generation ready for the challenges of the modern world," said Boris Korobets, welcoming the participants to the Forum.

Experts from the education sector addressed priority matters in education, science, and human resource development in separate sections of the Forum. The participants considered the main trends in the development of pedagogical practices in the educational space of Russia and Uzbekistan, shared their experience in creating university hospitals and improving the quality of educational management. The key sessions of the event were “Education and Creative Industries: Building the Future Economy” and “Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence: Prospects for Transforming Higher Education” organized by the Far Eastern Federal University.

“This meeting will have a strong focus on the creative industries and digital technology – all things that are at the cutting edge of scientific knowledge. By creating a good atmosphere for communication between university heads, teachers and representatives of the scientific community, we generate ideas that are then put into practice,” said Igor Maslov, Chief of the Presidential Directorate for Interregional Relations and Cultural Contacts with Foreign Countries.

“It is obvious that the development of intellectual property, the creation of new projects in the field of creative and information technologies will become the basis for interaction between Russia and Uzbekistan, further investments and the launch of joint interesting products on the global market,” said Anastasiia Zyryanova, Deputy Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.

It should be noted that 128 citizens of Uzbekistan are studying at the Far Eastern Federal University, and more than 300 are listeners at the FEFU Centre of Russian Language and Culture, the largest centre for teaching and promoting the Russian language in the Asia-Pacific region. Since May 2024, the Far Eastern Federal University has been the leading university for teaching Russian and conducting examinations for foreign citizens. FEFU staff are actively involved in the humanitarian project "Klass!" aimed at improving the quality of Russian language and general education teaching in Uzbekistan, and the University is ready to expand this area of cooperation by offering both language training itself and the development of teaching methods.

To remind, the Russian-Uzbek Educational Forum is a platform for exchange of experience and knowledge between educational institutions and specialists from Russia and Uzbekistan. The overall goals of the Forum are to strengthen cooperation in the field of education, develop scientific and cultural ties, and improve the quality of education in both countries. On the Russian side, the Forum was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Education and the Russian Union of Rectors.
