Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) should become one of the world's leading universities in the next decade. This statement was expressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, speaking at the plenary session of the VI Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) on September 3.

“In the horizon of the next ten years, Far Eastern Federal University should become one of the world's leading universities, including with regard to the educational base, the level of teaching, the demand for graduates. It must meet the highest international standards”, said Vladimir Putin.

The President also stressed the need to increase the availability of higher education in the Far East and increase the number of budget-funded places in universities. According to the President, now the availability of free higher education for graduates of Far Eastern schools is lower than that of their peers in Russia.

“We need to improve the quality of higher education in the Far East, update the educational program, educational and scientific infrastructure, taking into account the needs of the economy, employers, the modern labor market, and most importantly the needs of the students themselves. To attract more qualified teachers, world-renowned scientists”, said Vladimir Putin.

Far Eastern Federal University is the largest university in the Far East of Russia and the center of the intellectual development of the macroregion, consistently increasing the quality of scientific, educational, innovative activities, increasing the demand among Russian and foreign applicants, and recognizing it at the international level. In 2021, FEFU took the 461-st place in the QS World University Ranking, rising immediately to 32 positions in the prestigious international ranking, which was the best result in the entire history of the university's participation in it.

The VI Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 2-4, 2021 in Vladivostok on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The EEF was established by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin dated May 19, 2015, in order to promote the development of the economy of the Far East and expand international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. FEFU annually acts as a platform and partner of the forum, organizer of business program events.
