The Interim President of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Nikita Anisimov and President of Dalian University of Technology (China) Guo Dongming discussed the launch of joint academic and research projects at the meeting. In partnership, universities plan to open joint academic programs and research centers of excellence in the field of construction, deep-sea research, chemical technologies, and exploration of the Arctic.
Nikita Anisimov told about the concept of development of Russky Island, approved by the Government of the Russian Federation, and plans to build campuses for international students on the island. The FEFU Interim President invited the Chinese university to participate in this project and to open joint centers of excellence in priority research areas.
“We could start with Oceanography, Arctic exploration, shipbuilding, coastal construction, and chemical technologies,” voiced his suggestions Guo Dongming. “Recently Dalian University of Technology entered into a large-scale government program to support the best universities in China. To strengthen our positions, we will cooperate more actively with Russian universities, and FEFU may become one of the main partners.”
“Our interest in cooperation is mutual. It is necessary to expand bilateral contacts, to plan the opening of joint academic programs, exchange of students and researchers, and to launch research projects. I am confident that our partnership will be effective,” said Nikita Anisimov.
The FEFU delegation will pay to Dalian University of Technology a return visit to develop a cooperation program. Guo Dongming also invited faculty and economists from FEFU to give open lectures and to take part in international conferences on regional economy and financial law.
Today FEFU develops partner relations with 49 universities and research centers in China. Along with regular academic exchanges and joint research, 15 Russian Language Training Centers have been opened in Chinese universities and schools, in which 700 undergraduate and high school students are enrolled.
