Gennady A. Molchanov was born on March 25, 1964. In 1987 he graduated with honors from Bauman Moscow State Technical University, majoring in mechanical engineering.
From April 1987 to July 1990 he worked as a research associate of the Department of International Scientific and Technical Cooperation at the Mechanical Engineering Research Institute under the Russian Government.
In 1991 he received a diploma of retraining at the Academy of Foreign Trade (1990-1991) as the Operational and Commercial Expert in the Field of Foreign Relations.
In 1988-1993 he completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the degree in Economy of Capitalist Countries, thesis title: Prospects for US Engineering Development.
From July 1990 to July 1991 he worked as a senior commercial manager of StroyImpEx foreign trade association.
From July 1991 to October 1992 he worked as the head of the Department of External Relations at the National Innovation Fund of the Bureau of Mechanical Engineering of the Russian Government.
In 1993-1994 he undertook work placement in major French (Figaro, Liberation, Monde, Baillard Press) and Finnish (Aamulehti, Helsinki Sanomat) publishing houses.
From October 1992 to December 1995 he worked in Kommersant-Daily, the division of the Kommersant publishing house, as the CEO, Deputy CEO and Commercial Director of the publishing house.
From December 1995 to November 1997 he worked as the Marketing Director of the SBS-Agro banking group management company.
From January 1998 to June 1999: the President of the Izvestia Newspaper Editorial Office JSC.
In 1999-2001 he took MBA program at the European Institute of International Management (IEMI, Paris) and the Higher Business School under the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Besides an honors degree he was also awarded with the "Best in Class" medal.
From October 1999 to November 2004: the president of the management company and the private equity fund of Global Media Management CJSC.
In 2000 and 2003 he completed courses of the Strategic and Financial Management, Management of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises at the Japanese Management Center of the Moscow State University Business School, Keio University, and Doshisha University (Tokyo, Japan)
From November 2004 to March 2006: the CEO of Moscow Bearing JSC (European Bearing Corporation).
In 2005 he undertook work placement at the Ford car plants (Cologne, Germany) and FAG bearing industry enterprises (Naples, Italy).
From July 2006 to July 2011: the First Rank Advisor for the investment projects to the Uralsib Financial Corporation Chairman of the Board.
From July 2006 to March 2010: the Chairman of the Board of the Victoria Private Fund (Uralsib Financial Corporation).
In 2008 he completed the Executive Program on General Management at the Stanford Graduate School of Business (California, USA), and in 2009, the Marketing course at the Kellogg School of Management (Chicago, USA). In 2010 he completed the Company Project Management course of the PM Expert consulting company (PMI PMBOK 2008 standard). In 2008 and 2010 he completed courses of the Strategy Focused Company, Time Management and Efficiency, Key Areas and KPI of the Company and Manager at the TMI Management School (Time Manager International). In 2010 he completed the course of the Private Equity and Venture Capital at Harvard Business School, and in 2011, the Masterclass on Private Equity at the London Business School.
From July 2011 to February 2012: the CEO of the Quintessentially-Russia British-Russian joint venture, the member of the Quintessentially global network.
From August 2012 to December 2015: the Executive Director of Rambler-Games, LLC.
In 2015 he became the member of the 5top100 University Club Project. The purpose of the program is to increase the human resource capacity of universities, participating to the 5top100 Project, by attracting competent managers from the business environment to the universities.
From January 2016: Vice President for Strategic Development of the Far Eastern Federal University.
Gennady A. Molchanov is the Supervision Board Member of the MIRBIS Business School and the member of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Business School under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation.
He speaks two foreign languages: English and French.
