Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) hosted the Festival of Vietnamese Culture. Russian and international students, as well as invited guests, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional cultural space of this mysterious and vibrant country.
Participants were able to learn more about Vietnamese culture, listen to the speeches of university professors specializing in Vietnamese studies, enjoy the beauty of national costumes, participate in traditional games and learn the art of calligraphy. The festival was organised by FEFU's Vietnamese Students Union and the Institute of Oriental Studies Association (IOSA) with the support of the organisation Vietnam is Nearby.
"Every country has its own culture, and every country has its own beautiful traits. And today the students of FEFU have organised a wonderful event that not only reflects Vietnamese culture and its unique aspects, but also reveals the history of friendship between our countries," said Nguyen Dang Hien, the Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) in Vladivostok.
"For over three decades, FEFU has been immersing students in the language, history, culture, and economy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, uncovering the wonders of this exquisite country. Supported by the relevant ministries of Russia and the SRV, our university is actively involved in numerous joint projects in education, science, and technology, all stemming from our longstanding friendly partnerships. We are constantly expanding this cooperation: FEFU joined the Russian-Vietnamese IT-Universities Consortium, signed an agreement on student exchange with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology during the Forum of Presidents of Russian and Vietnamese Universities, and initiated trilateral research in artificial intelligence at FEFU Representative Office in Hanoi, Vietnam. We will continue to develop relations with Vietnamese partners and increase the number of academic exchanges," said Evgeny Vlasov, FEFU Vice President for International Relations.
To remind, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam is one of FEFU's priority strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific region, and the university has one of the strongest schools of Vietnamese studies in Russia. Every year, the FEFU Institute of Oriental Studies – School of Regional and International Studies invites students to join the Vietnamese specialization within the program Linguistic Support of Interstate Relations. This academic year, 33 Russian students are studying Vietnamese at the university, while the total number of foreign students from Vietnam is 57. Each year, with the support of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, FEFU students majoring in Vietnamese studies spend 10 months improving their language skills at the faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi. During the previous academic year 15 individuals pursued studies abroad.
