Implemented Projects

Virtual and Augmented Reality as New Educational Technologies

The FEFU NTI Center, the Quantorium Network of Children's Technoparks and the Russian Academy of Education signed a tripartite agreement on the establishment of a system of introduction of VR/AR technologies in education.

Virtual Reality Training Simulation for Basic State Exam in Chemistry Preparation Project

VR Chemistry LAB — the development of the STEM Game Consortium company member — is an instrumental to give each student the opportunity to conduct chemical experiments on their own. The NTI Center and STEM Games are conducting a study that will provide insight into the most effective solutions for chemistry education with the help of VR. The work includes the development of a collection of 8 sessions, including the pedagogical scenarios for each session, VR work scenarios, and recommendations for the organization of classes.

Virtual Reality Training Simulation for Basic State Exam in Physics Preparation Project

According to experts, the most difficult topics in Physics are combined into Magnetism. The NTI Center and Modum Lab Company are conducting research based on Magnetism training simulations that include the following topics: Electromagnetic Phenomena, Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, which will give an idea of the most effective solutions in teaching Physics with the help of VR. The course includes 4 theory sessions, 5 workshops, and problem solving.

Corporate Training

The use of virtual reality with tactile sensations

The Modum Lab developers, jointly with Teslasuit Company, have created a training demo case for VR simulations to eliminate fire at the oil loading rack. The employee of the oil loading rack, equipped with a smart Teslasuit suit, is immersed in the situation not only visually, but also physically during the VR session: she or he could feel tension in the muscles when performing any manipulations, and also get simulated sensations that occur in extreme conditions of an accident on the site (e.g.: flame heat, blast wave vibration). All this makes VR training much more realistic. The suit allows one to simulate conditions that are as close to real life as possible, which is important when practicing safety and skills of employees in hazardous industries.

VR/AR Academic Programs

Technology of Virtual and Augmented Reality Master's Program

The program aims to train software developers and young scientists in computer science who are able to use the university advanced equipment, including the full range of technologies to work in mobile and PC-based VR/AR, Mixed Reality, motion capture systems, as well as fundamentals of mathematical statistics, mathematical modeling, and theory of algorithms to solve the most pressing applied and scientific problems.

Digital Art Master's Program

It is an area that opens new markets of digital economy of impressions, allowing to create works of art using interactive spaces and multimedia environments. Students will be able to present and create art installations, digital research, design in media and virtual environments, and to deal with augmented reality and visualization of databases.

NTI Center Development Laboratory

It is opened at the FEFU School of Data Economy and represents a unique platform with an extensive set of research, design, and demonstration equipment. The Laboratory workstations have a very high processing power, which contributes to the development and launch of the state-of-the-art and high-tech projects in the aspect of the physics of objects and graphics.

More than 20 sets of virtual reality glasses (HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, etc.) and several augmented and mixed reality glasses (Microsoft HoloLens, Magic Leap, Epson Moverio, etc.) are available in the laboratory. There are also suits to use motion capture technology, smart drones to digitize space, and industrial 3D scanners to create 3D models.
