Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) opens residency programs for medical university graduates. Ten programs have already been established, and seven are being licensed now.  The first students will be admitted to the School of Biomedicine August 2017. The clinical practice for practitioners will be organized at the FEFU Medical Center (MC).

"Residency is an important stage of postgraduate medical education, on the basis of which doctors get their narrow specialization," explained Elena Khozhaenko, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, FEFU School of Biomedicine. "The duration of training for residents under our programs is two years. Training involves an in-depth study of the selected profile, monitoring of patients, working in the intensive care and diagnostic units, as well as participating in surgeries for residents in surgery."

The School of Biomedicine opens the following programs: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesiology & Resuscitation, Clinical Pharmacology, Neurology, Therapy, Endocrinology, General Medical Practice (Family Medicine), Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Healthcare and Public Health, Pediatrics, Cardiovascular Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Orthodontia, Pharmaceutical Technology, Management and Economics of Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy. 

Professors, associate professors, PhD and DSc in Medicine of Far Eastern Federal University, as well as leading specialists of the University Clinic have become managers of the residency programs: Andrey Silaev, Head of the Center for Resuscitation and Intensive Therapy, Anesthesiologist-Resuscitator of highest category; Tatiana Gorbach, Senior Neurologist, doctor of highest category, Victor Usov, Professor, Head of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Surgery, doctor of highest category; Sergey Shchava, Head of the Center for Cardiac Surgery and Vascular Surgery, heart surgeon, and others.

"Postgraduate education is mandatory for the doctor, if she/he plans to get a narrow specialization, and the Healthcare and Public Health area of study is needed for the professional's career growth and the opportunity to occupy managerial positions," said Yuri Khotimchenko, Vice President for Medical Affairs, Director of the FEFU School of Biomedicine. "Our best residents will become employees of the Medical Center, the leading high-tech clinic in the Far East. It is an indispensable experience of working on the most modern equipment, familiarity with advanced technologies, the possibility of an internship in the best clinics in Europe and Asia."

It should be noted that graduates of foreign medical schools have already expressed interest in the new programs of Far Eastern Federal University. For example, now young doctors from Latin America who plan to enroll in residency programs of the School of Biomedicine are studying at the FEFU Center of Russian Language and Culture.
