Feb 7, 2024 - FEFU News

In 2024, the Far Eastern Federal University celebrates the 125th anniversary of higher education in the Far East. It all started back at the Eastern Institute, the predecessor of FEFU, with the inception of a new chapter in the history of the entire Far Eastern society. Moreover, the FEFU marked alongside a significant milestone in its modern history. In 2023, it commemorated the 10th anniversary of the opening of the FEFU campus by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Within this short temporal timespan, the university has ascended beyond being a magnet for youth from across the country and around the world, but also emerged as the venue for major international events, notably the annual Eastern Economic Forum. No other university in the country can boast of such a large number of annual visits by heads of state and foreign delegations.

"It's confident to assert that the university will be one of the cornerstones in the general educational space of the Asia-Pacific region," noted Vladimir Putin in his speech in 2019.

Turning to the East: The experience of interaction with China, North Korea, India and Myanmar.

Besides, the FEFU became the meeting place for the leaders of the two countries in 2019 at the first Russia-DPRK Summit.

In 2022, the Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, became an honorary guest of the FEFU campus - the visit to the university was the first event in the program of the Prime Minister's stay in the Russian Far East. The key events were the acquaintance of the leader with the FEFU medical cluster and achievements in the field of medicine, the signing of agreements on the training of Myanmar students in FEFU programs in the field of medicine, as well as on the development of tourism between the two countries.

The issues of development of educational ties between Russia and India were discussed during the visit of an Indian delegation led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of India, Narendra Modi, in 2019. During this visit, the chancellor of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) made proposals to intensify Russian-Indian cooperation in the fields of education, science, and high technology.

In 2018, the honorary guest was the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. An agreement on the opening of a representative office of FEFU in China was signed in the presence of the leaders of Russia and China, and this agreement was implemented a year later on April 1, 2019, in Beijing at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. This move has strengthened the international image of the university.

In different years, the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) and the FEFU campus were visited by President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga, Prime Minister of
Malaysia Mahathir bin Mohamad, Vice Premier of the State Council of China Zhang Gaoli, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar, Prime Minister of the
