More than 3,000 international students from 67 countries have been enrolled at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in the new academic year. FEFU significantly expanded the geography of students from abroad, having enrolled first-year students from 15 new states.

As reported by the Office of Vice President for International Relations, about 1,500 international students are enrolled in bachelor, specialist, master's, postgraduate, and residency programs at the university. Another 900 students will study in preparatory departments and language courses at the FEFU Center of Russian Language and Culture during the year. There was also a mass recruitment to the university's Russian Language Training Centers in China, where applicants are preparing to enter the university.

“Far Eastern Federal University is a participant in the priority project for the export of Russian education and, at the same time, the center for integration of the Russian Federation into the Asia-Pacific region,” said Victoria Panova, the Vice President for International Relations. “The favorable geographic location, the launch of updated academic programs, the traditionally strong school of Russian studies, the unique campus and the international environment of FEFU—all this attracts students from all over the world.”

The geography of international students, having chosen to study at FEFU in the new academic year, expanded to a record 67 countries worldwide. Citizens of Algeria, Bahrain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iran, Cuba, Mali, Nepal, Somalia, Croatia, Chile, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and South Africa have been enrolled for the first time.

India and Colombia joined the traditional leaders in the number of students at FEFU—China, the Republic of Korea, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan. The popular with the Indian applicants General Medicine English-language program tripled the number of students: from 40 to 124 freshmen. Cooperation with recruitment agencies has increased the number of students from the South American continent almost twofold (from 70 to 134 persons), 85 of them representing Colombia.

The strategy of the university, which includes participation in major exhibitions, cooperation with recruitment agencies, and direct recruitment in China and the CIS countries, contribute to the dynamic promotion of FEFU in the international educational market. The Olympiads and summer schools also help to attract international applicants—undergraduate and high school students often decide to continue their studies here after two or three weeks in FEFU.

Participation of Far Eastern Federal University in the Export of Education priority project, which the Ministry of Education and Science has started in 2017 in order to increase the attractiveness of Russian education abroad, will allow bringing this work to new level. Details about the leading universities of Russia are provided at the Study in Russia portal, where on the FEFU page students can find all information about admission, university programs, studies and life on campus.
