Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU, Russia) and Guilin University of Technology (GUT, China) will jointly train engineering personnel. Within the framework of academic mobility programs, students and university professors will be able to immerse themselves in the scientific and technological agenda of the two countries, as well as exchange best practices. The universities have fixed this initiative in the agreement.

The Far Eastern Federal University is carrying out a large-scale transformation of engineering education programs. Meeting the demand of the real sector of the Russian economy, the university focuses its efforts on training personnel capable of working in Chinese markets. Today, within the framework of the university's cross-cutting policy "Eastern Vector", not only Orientalists, but also students of other FEFU majors receive Chinese studies competencies. Conclusion of the agreement with Guilin University of Technology will allow future specialists to become part of international research teams and get acquainted with the peculiarities of work in the field of high-tech entrepreneurship of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

"Our agreement with Guilin University of Technology allows us not only to develop traditional areas of cooperation, such as academic exchanges and joint research, but also to find new points of interest and launch projects in the field of engineering education. I am sure that the basis of our roadmap will be the training of more young researchers of a new formation who are capable of developing international projects between Russia and China. Our joint work will help Russian and foreign students easily join the scientific and technological agenda of the two countries in the future," said Boris Korobets, President of the Far Eastern Federal University.

Zhou Guoqing, Vice-Rector for International Relations of Guilin University of Technology, emphasized that interaction with FEFU as a university with developed competencies in engineering and high educational standards will enable consolidation of scientific, educational and technological potential of Russia and China.

FEFU is one of the three leading universities in Russia, where Sinology is represented and China and the Chinese language are systematically studied. For more than 120 years of university history the main mission of it has been to study the Celestial Empire and create conditions for the development of bilateral cooperation. In recent years, the university has significantly expanded its interaction with China. Nowadays FEFU cooperates with more than 60 public and private educational institutions, scientific institutes, governmental organizations and foundations of the People's Republic of China. Guilin University of Technology is located in Guangxi Province, and the agreement with it expands the FEFU's presence in the south of China. Thus, the university's partner network covers not only the northeastern provinces bordering Russia, but also the southwestern territories of the People's Republic of China.
