Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and Liaoning University of the People's Republic of China (PRC) entered into a memorandum of cooperation on the sidelines of the VIII Eastern Economic Forum. The parties indicated their readiness to develop academic and cultural exchange, conduct joint research activities and projects in the field of internationalization of higher education. Universities will also begin to work in the field of applied analytics and develop new effective mechanisms for cooperation between Russia and China.

Far Eastern Federal University, as one of the leading centers of Chinese Studies, is actively involved in strengthening cooperation between Russia and China in various areas. Signing an agreement with Liaoning University will allow FEFU specialists to expand the scope of research in the field of applied analytics on practical aspects of the development of countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Comprehensive scientific projects in the field of socio-political and economic development will also allow universities to develop new mechanisms for bilateral interaction between Russia and China.

“Our joint task will be to identify new formats of economic, scientific and technological relations in such system-forming areas for Russia and China as digital technologies and artificial intelligence, marine research, engineering, biomedicine and biotechnology, physics and materials science. In addition, an important aspect of cooperation will be the study of the potential for interregional economic and political interaction between the Russian Far East and Northeast China,” emphasized FEFU President Boris Korobets.

Liaoning University President Yu Miaojie said that the education system is not only a place of concentration of technology and skills, but also a fundamental project of technological innovation and talent training. Inter-university cooperation between the Far Eastern Federal University and Liaoning University will help both sides turn their scientific and educational advantages into prosperous economic cooperation, and will also promote the development of Chinese-Russian economic strategic cooperation in the Far East.

“Chinese-Russian relations are at a new historical starting point, have broad development prospects. Universities in Russia and China have the responsibility to educate more successors in the cause of Chinese-Russian friendship, so as to give inexhaustible impetus to the sustainable development of Chinese-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic interaction and partnership into a new era,” noted Yu Miaojie.

Let us remind you that the People's Republic of China is one of the key partners of the university - FEFU has concluded agreements with more than 60 public and private educational institutions, scientific institutes, government organizations and foundations of the People's Republic of China. Joint projects between the two countries are being implemented within the framework of the “Eastern Vector” policy, the task of which is to create at FEFU a key center of competence in Oriental Studies in Russia, as well as to promote the Russian scientific and business communities in the market of the Asia-Pacific region.
