Sep 11, 2023 - FEFU News
The Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the largest university in Thailand, Kasetsart University (KU), signed an agreement on scientific and academic cooperation in the field of biotechnology and agriculture during the VIII Eastern Economic Forum. Universities have showed an interest in the students and faculty exchange.

The parties agreed to cooperate within the framework of the FEFU project “Agrobioengineering CRF Technologies for Organic Agriculture”, implemented within the framework of the “Priority 2030” program, and the Advanced Engineering School “Institute of Biotechnology, Bioengineering and Food Systems” of the university. The goal of the project is to develop new world-class agro-bioengineering technologies, as well as create an effective and mass-applicable product line of “smart” fertilizers from local resources of the Far East.

Kasetsart University is one of the largest universities in Thailand in terms of the number of students and total campus area, and is also considered the country's best university in the field of agricultural sciences. Through cooperation, FEFU and KU plan to meet the high demand of the Russian and international agricultural markets for new types of organic fertilizers.

“Our university is already an entry point for Russian companies into Asian markets, and cooperation with Kasetsart University will not only strengthen international ties between Russia and Thailand, but will also help ensure the food security of our countries,” emphasized Evgeny Vlasov, Vice President for International Relations of FEFU.

Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy Varaphanni Damrongmani said that Russia and Thailand are reaching a new level of interaction and wished the universities success in their joint activities.

It is worth noting that the KU does not have partners in Russia, which opens up the opportunity for FEFU to begin promoting the Russian language and culture - the parties expressed their readiness to organize academic and language exchanges for students of Thai Studies and Russian Studies. Kasetsart University is also interested in developing new areas of interaction, and Vice President for International Relations of the University Kampanat Pensupar emphasized that FEFU is a place where mutual ties between Russia and Thailand can be successfully developed.
