The latest QS World University Rankings 2016 was published on September 6th. Far Eastern Federal University improved its position in it, moving up to the band of universities which take places from 551 to 600. FEFU is among four Russian universities, which have risen in the rankings by more than 100 points.

"Far Eastern Federal University shows the expected momentum in the QS rankings promotion. It is obviously that a powerful incentive for this is the state International Competitiveness Enhancement Program. We take a serious approach to participating in the 5top100 Project, consistently carry out our commitments, which naturally affects the rankings," commented the FEFU Acting President Nikita Anisimov.

According to him, another important factor in the QS rankings promotion is the growing recognition of Far Eastern Federal University.

"We need to recognize that it is extremely difficult for the young university to compete with the world's leading education and science institutions, and only persistent systematic work allows us to achieve breakthrough results. To this end, FEFU implements a number of development projects on internationalization of education and research, intensively cooperates with partner universities in the Asia-Pacific region, and creates labs led by the scientists of world renown," said Nikita Anisimov.

QS World University Rankings has been compiled by QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd and is one of the most recognizable and popular world rankings of universities. The best universities around the world are ranked on six criteria: academic reputation, student-to-faculty ratio, employer reputation, citations per faculty, international student ratio, and international faculty ratio.

"Assessing the results in the QS rankings, we can say that quantitative indicators of the University have transformed into qualitative ones. Of course, to achieve a new level is important for us, but now it is equally important to maintain the momentum and to continue moving forward, making maximum use of all available capabilities", stressed the FEFU Acting President.

In 2016 the universities from 80 countries are included in the rankings, the universities from 34 countries are represented in the top 200—Australia, Austria, the United States, Britain, Russia, Brazil, France, Canada, New Zealand, Germany, Korea, Japan and others.

Far Eastern Federal University has consistently improved performance in major international rankings. FEFU is ranked in the top 100 of the QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia, QS University Rankings: BRICS, as well as of four QS World University Rankings by Subject. In 2016 the University also made significant progress in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, where it takes 2232th place now (20th place in Webometrics Russian ranking list).
