The final of the XXXI All-Russian Student Olympiad in Surgery named after Academician Perelman was held from April 10 to 16 at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. For the first time, the School of Medicine of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), represented by the DΛ VINCI Operative Surgery Club, took part in the competition. According to the results of the competition, the university team entered the top ten in the team ranking of medical universities in the country.

Students from 26 universities from all over Russia and neighboring countries, who passed the qualifying rounds in their federal districts, met at the finals of the Olympiad in Moscow. The Far Eastern Federal District was represented by teams from the Far Eastern Federal University (Vladivostok) and the Far Eastern State Medical University (Khabarovsk).

During the week, student teams competed in theoretical knowledge and practical skills in numerous surgical areas: abdominal surgery, transplantology, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, traumatology, endovideosurgery, anesthesiology and resuscitation, plastic surgery. As a result of the Olympiad, the team of the FEFU School of Medicine received third prizes in the Knotting and Liver Transplantation competitions. In the team standings, the team earned 298.4 points and entered the top ten.

“The Olympiad in Moscow is a large-scale, important and exciting event. We have been preparing and moving towards this for quite a while. No one thought about the awards, we hoped and worked hard towards the set goal. At the moment, we are ranked 9th in the team ranking of the best medical universities in Russia, next year we will show a different result: higher and brighter, as far as we can,” says a member of the DΛ VINCI Operative Surgery Club, the operator of the directions "Thoracic Surgery" and "Thoracoscopy", 2nd year student of the FEFU School of Medicine Polina Babenko.
