A student of the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) Dmitry Yakinto set a personal record at the Rubik's WCA World Championship 2023 in Incheon (Korea). A student solves a 2x2 Rubik's Cube in 1.27 seconds. In the 3x3 discipline, Dmitry passed in the second round and completed the puzzle in 8.67 seconds.

At international competitions, Dmitry Yakinto participated in 11 disciplines out of 17 possible. In the main assembly of the 3x3 cube, the FEFU student entered the second round. Among 1142 participants, Dmitry took 257th position with a time of 9.54 seconds and a best attempt of 8.67 seconds.

The student set a personal record in the 2x2 discipline. Dmitry solved the Rubik's Cube in 1.27 seconds. At the same time, the world assembly record is 0.49 seconds.

“This was my tenth official competition under the auspices of the World Cube Association - WCA. I also participated in the Asian Championship in Kazakhstan last year, and in 2019 in the Chinese Championship. This time the tournament was larger and more interesting: more than 1,400 participants took part in the competition, and it was great to see all our idols: world record holders, cubers, by whom the whole world is equal, by which we learn, ” says Dmitry Yakinto.

According to him, speedcubers are a very friendly community that takes place not only in Primorsky Region, but all over the world. By the way, Dmitry competed at the championship with his family - brother Elisei and mother Tatiana, who is the head of the Speedcubing Federation of Primorsky Region. The student himself holds the position of Art Director of the Federation.

The whole Yakinto family not only goes to events, but also participate in socially significant events. In August 2023, at the Vladivostok airport, the family exhibited an art piece depicting an Amur leopard. Art object two meters high consists of 910 Rubik's cubes. The piece is located on the third floor of the passenger terminal, and it reminds guests and residents of Primorsky Region of the importance of preserving Red Book animals. The creation of the facility is timed to coincide with the Eastern Economic Forum 2023.
