Students of School of Biomedicine of Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU), under the guidance of experienced scientists, are developing a research project. The microfluidic test platform will help you study drugs for toxicity and permeability without testing on animals and real patients. The work is designed for two years and is being carried out jointly with the National Research University Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE) within the framework of the Mirror Laboratories project.

Using this platform, scientists want to study the interaction of biologically active molecules with gut tissue in real-time and assess the toxicity and permeability of drugs through the barrier tissue of the small intestine. In the future, the project could serve as a basis for moving away from the multi-ethnical and resource-intensive testing of drugs in animals and humans, moving to a new level of bioethics in medical research.

Material Science program, which includes research in the field of new technologies and materials, is defined at Far Eastern Federal University as one of the priorities and is focused on solving fundamentally new scientific and technological problems at the forefront of modern science. FEFU scientists conduct fundamental research and practical development in the priority areas of the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation, which are necessary for the transition to the technologies of the future.
