Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and Freiberg Mining Academy (Germany) signed an agreement on cooperation. FEFU Acting President Nikita Anisimov and Rector of the leading European university of natural resources development Klaus-Dieter Barbknecht signed the document on the sidelines of the World Forum of Universities of Resources on Sustainability, which was held in St. Petersburg.

The heads of the universities have consolidated agreements on the regular exchange of faculty and students, and to participate collaboratively in research and grant programs. As the result of the talks it has been determined that the first internship of the faculty members of the Department of Mining and Integrated Development of Mineral Resources of the FEFU School of Engineering to Germany will be held later in October. The representatives of the Russian university will get acquainted with the German experience in implementing education and research projects in the field of integrated development of mineral resources, as well as the best European practices for interuniversity cooperation. In addition, in October the specialists of the Schools of Engineering and Freiberg Mining Academy will initiate the joint research projects.

Thanks to the concluded agreement the FEFU students will also have the opportunity to continue their study in Germany free of charge under the graduate and PhD programs with the degree to be awarded by the Freiberg Mining Academy. Far Eastern Federal University will join for this purpose the online program of the German university for technical students who most distinguished themselves in study and research.
