The 7th International Conference of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Education Forum will be held at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in September 2018. This decision was made at the Human Resources Development Working Group meeting, which was held in Papua New Guinea. Russia was represented at the meeting by Evgeny Vlasov, FEFU Deputy Vice President for International Relations.

“The working group considered the proposal of Russia to hold the APEC Education Conference in FEFU and included the event into the Forum's official events schedule for 2018. Our initiative was actively supported by China, Indonesia, and Thailand,” said Evgeny Vlasov. “It was decided this year to devote the international conference to the challenges facing higher education in the Asia-Pacific countries in the digital age.”

The conference will be attended by official delegations of the ministries of education of more than 15 APEC economies, the presidents of the participating universities of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), academics, researchers, and experts. The agenda includes the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution, digitalization of higher education, educational diplomacy, and scientific cooperation for sustainable development until 2030.

Recommendations and proposals following the results of the conference will be presented at the final APEC summit, to be held with the participation of the leaders of the countries in Papua New Guinea in November 2018.
