The new Economics and Environmental Management Master's Degree Program is being opened at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) in 2017. It will be headed by Riccardo Valentini, the Nobel Laureate, Scientific Supervisor of the FEFU Far Eastern Climate Smart Lab. At the meeting with the Italian scientist, the FEFU Interim President Nikita Anisimov highly appreciated the development of the climate research in the university, new research and educational projects.

“Thanks to Professor Valentini, Far Eastern Federal University is becoming the Russian center of excellence in climate research in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Nikita Anisimov. “Far Eastern Climate Smart Lab is a really breakthrough project that many scientists and students want to join. Riccardo Valentini's new Master's Program in FEFU will provide an opportunity for young researchers to work in this international team of leading professionals and make their contribution to solving global challenges.”

Riccardo Valentini said that the new Master's Degree Program was aimed at training researchers and specialists for the green economy. According to the professor, now companies need more and more professionals who can explain how to focus on preserving the environment when organizing a business and to take into account the climate change in the development of business models.  Graduates will also be able to work in government agencies and environmental organizations. The research projects of the Far Eastern Climate Smart Lab will become an integral part of the training. The first batch of students will be enrolled during the 2017 admission campaign.

When preparing for the new admissions campaign, the university completely reloads the master's degree programs, all study areas are subject to professional and public scrutiny, and a portfolio of new programs is being formed. As pointed out by Anna Tyshetskaya, the Deputy Vice President for Academic Affairs, FEFU has a unique character peculiar to it only, which can be clearly presented through the new master's program. One of them will be the program of Riccardo Valentini.

Today Far Eastern Federal University is implementing 70 Master's Degree Programs. By focusing on the priority training of high-skilled professionals, advanced innovators and researchers, FEFU increases the government subsidized enrollment for the master's degree programs each year. In 2017, the target enrollment figures approved by the Ministry of Education and Science amount to 1,748 places (125 more than in 2016).
