Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and Ningbo University (China) plan to launch the Pacific Motor Performance and Biomechanics Research Center. The researchers of the FEFU School of Arts, Culture and Sports and the Ningbo University Faculty of Sports Science will study human motor capabilities on its basis. An important step on the way to starting the joint work was the signing of the memorandum by the parties.

The Russian and Chinese universities have developed cooperation from the beginning of 2016, when Yaodong Gu, Professor of Ningbo University, General Secretary of the Asia Society of Sports Biomechanics, took part in establishing of the Motor Performance Research Laboratory in FEFU. According to Vladimir Pavlovsky, Deputy Director for Development, School of Arts, Culture and Sports, the signed agreement cemented the earlier plans: to open the Pacific Motor Performance Center and joint educational programs in Biomechanics.

The Motor Performance Research Laboratory and FEFU Medical and Biological Laboratory will be involved into the establishment of the international research center. The database, which allows to comprehensively carry out research in the field of sports, sports medicine, and adaptive physical education, was created in the School of Arts, Culture and Sports for collaboration of the researchers of both countries. The equipment, which is used by professional and national teams around the world, is available there: SMARTSPEED Timing Gates System, XSENS MVN BIOMECH human body movement real-time kinematics analysis system, and the system of electromyographic evaluation of muscle work.

"Working with Chinese counterparts plays an important role in the promotion of Far Eastern Federal University in the rated scientific periodicals," pointed out Pyotr Kuznetsov, Deputy Director for Research, School of Arts, Culture and Sports. "For example, the Head of the Motor Performance Research Laboratory Sergey Popik and Professor Yaodong Gu have already published several joint articles in the international journals indexed in the Scopus database.

It should be added that the FEFU School of Arts, Culture and Sports regularly conduct experiments to assess the level of technical preparation of students, members of the University teams in rowing, football, volleyball, and other sports. The University is also developing methods of preparing athletes based on hidden reserves of the organism under conditions of stress exposure and maximum loads.
