International Russia–Far East Summer School was opened at Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU). Forty students from Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, the United States, the Netherlands, Taiwan, and China combine their rest on campus with the study of the Russian language and the country's policy in the Asia-Pacific region. The summer school is held for the fifth time with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

The summer school consists of two programs. The Russian Language and Culture Course was developed by the FEFU lecturers of Russian philology. Students can not only learn the language there, but completely immerse themselves in the culture of the country, get acquainted with the people's traditions. The second module was developed at the FEFU Oriental Institute–School of Regional and International Studies and it is devoted to the international and domestic policies of the country and Northeast Asia. A unique course of lectures and seminars will make it possible to understand international relations and to study in detail the current situation in the region.

The educational program of the school started with the test in the Russian language, following which all participants were divided into groups according to their level of knowledge. Classes are held daily and include an intensive course on grammar and vocabulary from the Center of Russian Language and Culture. To get acquainted closer with the traditions of the country the students will be able at the master classes in Russian cuisine, classes in folklore, excursions around the city, and those to the FEFU Education and Research Museum and the Arsenyev Primorsky State Museum.
