The field of sciences and scientific areas in which research is conducted in the department, in accordance with the International Science Map of the Olympiad: Economics and Econometrics
Topics of the department's current research projects:
- Sustainable development of the region: effective economic mechanisms for organizing markets and entrepreneurial competencies of the population in conditions of uncertainty (balance of security and risk), FZNS-2023-0016, 2023-25 (state assignment of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation);
- Theory of market organization;
- Theory of economic mechanisms;
- Experimental and behavioral economics;
- Spatial economics.
Information about the topic and content of the NIP:
1. The name of the NIP: The use of multi-object auctions for the efficient allocation of a limited resource.
2. The field of sciences and scientific directions of the NIP in accordance with the International Science Map of the Olympiad: economics and Econometrics;
3. The acceptable working languages of the research group during the project are Russian and English.;
4. The purpose of the project:
Development, theoretical and experimental study of an effective mechanism for allocating a limited resource based on a multi-object auction.
5. Project objectives:
1) A cross-country (including the applicant's home country and/or other countries of interest to him) review of ways to allocate a limited resource, such as a historical guideline based on the fulfillment of certain indicators, a guideline without formalized criteria, an economic one based on dynamic pricing, etc.
2) A cross-country (including the applicant's home country and/or other countries of interest to him) overview of markets using multi-object auctions: the currency and stock markets, the carbon market, the electric power industry, the market for permits for fishing and seafood, deforestation, car ownership, access to nature reserves, etc.
3) Analysis of the main formats of multi-object auctions: the generalized first-price auction, the Vickrey-Clark-Groves mechanism and the Ausubel auction, the single-price auction, and the study of their advantages and disadvantages.
4) Developing an auction design for a specific product, taking into account its specific features. Theoretical and experimental analysis of the effectiveness of the proposed mechanism.
6. Description of the scientific approach
The project is supposed to use the methods of the theory of economic mechanisms and, in particular, the theory of multi-object auctions. Efficiency studies are based, on the one hand, on game-theoretic models of rational agents, on the other hand, on the behavioral characteristics of real bidders, taking into account the specifics of the analyzed markets, studied, among other things, through surveys and laboratory experiments.

- Position, planned term of the contract: researcher, 3 years;
- Research tasks for a postdoc:
1) An overview of the methods used in different markets in different countries (including in the applicant's home country) for allocating a limited resource, as well as markets where the mechanism of multi-object auctions is already used.
2) An overview of the main formats of multi-object auctions, an analysis of their positive and negative properties, including in the context of application to specific markets, taking into account the behavioral characteristics of consumers.
3) Development of the mechanism design in relation to a specific market and product, taking into account its specific features. Theoretical substantiation of the advantages of the proposed mechanism in comparison with the existing methods of distribution of this product.
