A survey of the passenger traffic and vessel types of Vietnam

Abstract: The articles presents the results of a survey of the sea routes for passenger and tourist traffic in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Basing on open sources information, there have been defined the main lines of the traffic as well as the types and characteristics of passenger ships. The possibility to use sea catamarans for passenger traffic as well as their constructive and operational advantages and disadvantages have been considered in it. The design characteristics of the passenger catamarans made between 1980 and 2017 have been studied. The resultant formulae indicate a dependence of the ship measurement and size distribution on the passenger capacity and the year the boat was built. Presented are the major trends demonstrating changes in design characteristics of the catamarans.
