Application efficiency analysis of some structural solutions for steel purlins in the arched roofs

Abstract. In this article, the calculation and justification of the effectiveness of some structural solutions of steel purlins in the cover of arch type. The nature of operation of purlins in rectilinear coverings and purlin structures in curvilinear outline coverings has significant differences: all purlins installed along a single roof slope, predominantly experience a single character of the stress-strain state; each purlin installed on a curved surface, experiences a stress-strain state characteristic of its position on the coating, which is different from the neighboring purlin. The specified nature of the operation of purlins installed on curved surfaces does not allow the use of a single effective section from the list of existing ones at the time of writing this work. The main constructive types of purlins used in arched-type coatings are classified: continuous section purlins in the form of a channel and an I-beam, lattice purlins in the form of flat and spatial trusses. A critical analysis of the experience of using purlins for installation on curved surfaces made it possible to set the objectives of the work: to determine the areas of applicability of existing design solutions for purlins in arched-type coating structures; to suggest and constructively develop a new universal design of purlins which can work effectively in conditions of arch-type coatings. The subject of the study of this work is the nature of the change in the rational constructive form of the roof purlins in arch-type structures on the example of the implementation of the constructive form in individual structural solutions. The main results of the work were obtained after processing the results of a series of studies on numerical and analytical computational models of purlin structures. The reliability of the obtained results is ensured by the correct formulation of research tasks, classical processing and objective interpretation of the results of numerical and analytical experiments. To achieve the objectives of this study, the territory of Russia was divided into five conditional loading zones. The basic structural types of purlins for the specified load zones have been calculated; the feasibility of using each of the investigated structural solutions has been determined by the results of the complex estimation and analytical assessment. Based on the research results, a rational solution for the purlins is proposed, the use of which will reduce the estimated cost and metal consumption of the structure while ensuring the bearing capacity and rigidity for working conditions under load on curved surfaces.
