Analytical three-dimensional model of the bow of the ice navigation vessels and icebreakers

Abstract: The article describes a three-dimensional analytical model of the ship's surface, designed to generate contours of the fore part of ice-going vessels and icebreakers. The model is based on three-parameter power functions proposed by V.A. Kovalev and is a modification of his proposed method for generating a ship's surface. The proposed designs differ from the existing ones in that the surface is formed by changing the parameters of the frame line, and it is more consistent with the task of designing ice ships. At the same time, it does not require the design of frame areas; and is optimized to obtain the contours recommended in the rules of the Russian Maritime Registry of Shipping.

The proposed model is designed to quickly generate contours of ice-going vessels, and the features listed above make it possible to obtain a surface with predetermined correlations of characteristic angles, which is necessary for optimizing the shape of ice breaking ships. The various examples of the contours based on these technical solutions are presented in this article.

Keywords: ice-going vessels, icebreakers, three-dimensional modeling, ship surface model.
