Fluctuations of the Amur Bay in winter

Abstract: Measurements of the spatiotemporal variability of the surface level of the northern part of Amursky Bay were carried out for the first time in winter of 2018. Works were carried out from January 21 to February 14 by means of 11 autonomous hydrostatic pressure recorders. This paper studies the spatiotemporal fluctuations of the surface of the northern part of Amursky Bay. On the basis of the experimental data, the tidal sea surface vibrations and higher harmonics with periods from 1.5 to 6.2 hours were identified. A multiple increase in the wave energy of the high-frequency components was detected when the tide comes to the wide shallow waters of the bay.

Keywords: tidal phenomena, hydrological studies, Amursky Bay, Peter the Great Bay.
