World Chess Championship will be held in Primorsky Region. The FEFU campus on Russky Island was chosen as the venue for the “Russian” part of the tournament. 

The match for the Title of World Chess Champion between the current titleholder Ju Wenjun (China) and the challenger Alexandra Goryachkina (Russia) will be held in January 2020. The first part of the match will be played in Shanghai from January 4 to 12, and the second will be held in Vladivostok from January 15 to 25.

The competition was organized by the International Chess Federation (ICF), the Chinese Chess Association, the Russian Chess Federation and the Administration of the Primorsky Region.

The match will be the first major world-class chess event in the coming year. A large number of visitors are expected not only from the Primorsky Territory, but also from residents of neighboring provinces of China who will come to support their compatriot.
