Educational program overview:

Molecular and cell biology are likely the most rapidly expanding areas in life sciences, which are now setting the fundamental basis for the modern medicine. Discoveries in molecular and cellular biology for last decade have shed light on molecular defects behind many diseases, explained genetic mechanisms of heredity and inherited abnormalities, formed foundations for molecular biotechnology, genetic engineering, biomedical cell-based techniques, explained cancer development pathways, and suggested the approached for targeted cancer therapies.

Molecular and cell biologists are the experts with the widest range of methodologies to study biomolecules and cells, who are able to understand their structure and function, research the mechanistic causes of various pathologies, and who use genetic and tissue engineering in order to develop modern medical technologies.

These specialists work in leading research centres and clinical laboratories, on a wide range of tasks from complex diagnostics and genome analysis, to cell-based treatments and correction of genetic defects.

Career Prospects:

Molecular and cell biologists are now needed all around the world, and therefore this job is international. FEFU graduates with molecular and cell biology expertise are employed in many countries, including research divisions of the leading companies, working in medicine, pharma, and biotech, research institutes, clinics, and top world’s universities (Top-20 and Top-100 World University Ranking).

Being our graduate in this subject area, You will be employable wherever there is a need for creative thinking and original decisions based on the fundamental knowledge in biomedicine, molecular mechanisms, and innovative solutions in molecular and cell research, for the better futures of the humanity and the planet in general.

Why Institute of Life Sciences and Biomedicine?

The training is organized on the basis of the Department of Medical Biology and Biotechnology and the Center for Genomic and Regenerative Medicine, the laboratories of which are equipped with unique equipment for studying molecules and cells, carrying out drug development, and performing preclinical tests of medical and pharmaceutical technologies. We develop project-oriented learning.

We encourage academic exchange and internships at the best universities and companies in the world.

We develop large international projects in the field of medical biotechnology, marine biotechnology, biotechnology and plant pharmacology.
